several town services, including those offered by its forestry
service information center.

powder enthusiasts. The Mt. Baker ski area offers skiers,
snowboarders, snowshoers, and snowmobilers an annual snowfall
of more than 1,000 inches, which ranks as one of the highest
on the continent. This popular ski resort also is known for
its diversity. Whether you're an expert or a beginner, its
eight chairlifts and two rope tows will introduce you to a
perfect run.
The Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest and Nooksack
Falls are popular destination sites for hikers and
backpackers. Rock climbers love to scale the nearby Mt.
Shuksan, Table Mountain, Church Mountain, and Artist's Point.
You also have Silver Lake and the Nooksack River luring those
who like to wet a hook, and the Nooksack's white waters also
make for great rafting and kayaking. |
For those who like to throw a little sight-seeing into the
mix, nearby Bellingham offers a couple of options for
exploring the beautiful San Juan Islands. You can sail into
the islands aboard a charter boat or take a guided kayak tour.
Other points of interest include the Holmquist Hazelnut
Orchards in Lynden, the Mount Baker Vineyards in Deming, and
the Black Mountain Forestry Center in Maple Falls. The Baker's
Edge Golf Course provides linksters breathtaking vistas, and
for junior golfers, the Miniature World Family Center in Birch
Bay features 18 holes of miniature golf as well as go-carts
and train rides. The kiddos also love the Birch Bay
Waterslides, a slippery amusement park open from mid-May
