The
quiet villages, rolling hills, and breath-taking scenery
of the Central Vermont region are perfect for the active
vacationer. Fishing, hiking, and skiing give way to
beautiful scenery. Recreational bicyclist will enjoy
Central Vermont's back road and off road riding. Paved and
unpaved roads winding by historic communities and
picturesque countryside provide the perfect setting for
day-long exploration with bed and breakfast inns waiting
to pamper you at the days end. Waterbury is home of Ben &
Jerry's Ice Cream, a great place to stop along your
travels. Central Vermont is also home to several wineries
and farms that offer samples of their bounty. Central
Vermont has 14 covered bridges including a unique
collection of bridges in Northfield. Two bridges are
within a quarter mile of each other on the same road. They
can be easily viewed simultaneously - the only place in
the East where this occurs.
