Smoky Mountain Retreat Log Cabins in North
Carolina offers a great family vacation getaway where you can
spread out, enjoy beautiful natural wildlife, biking, hiking,
rafting down the river, ski in the winter, and fish in
pristine streams; all while staying in authentic log cabins
with modern amenities including free high speed wireless
Internet access.
When
most people talk about building a log cabin, they plan to use
a "log kit" of pre-milled logs that are already
notched and ready to be stacked. Not Linda and Ivor, the
owners and builders of a Smoky Mountain Retreat. They
constructed the "real McCoy", and guests can notice
the difference.
Because
the cabins are made with logs sawed at the local sawmill from
trees that are harvested by Ivor, the fragrance and grain of
the floors, walls, ceilings and porches are remarkable. The
actual process of air drying the lumber took one year,
followed by the cutting and stacking of the logs to form the
cabin. With the help of their three sons, Ivor and Linda
complete one log cabin a year. Hard work, sore muscles and
long hours make these special cabins beautiful retreats year
'round. Amid in the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains, you
can unwind in the clean air and panoramic views.
A
large stone fireplace greets visitors upon entering. You can
rent from a choice of five cabins which have three or four
bedrooms with two or three baths and can sleep up to sixteen
people in the largest cabin. Each cabin is provided with
dishes, cookware, utensils, microwave, coffee maker, toaster
ovens, full refrigerator, ranges, washer and dryer, cable
television and VCR, grill, ceiling fans, air-conditioning,
wood for the fireplace, carpet, living room, dining room,
linens and towels, telephone and an attic fan. All the things
you would need to make yourself feel at home. |
Nature
is at your doorstep in these log cabins. Relax on the lovely
covered porch and watch the sunset or listen to the crickets.
There are plenty of places to go hiking, fishing, horseback
riding, tubing, rafting, swimming, or biking. Visit the
Cherokee Indian Reservation or Oconoluftee Indian Village.
Other attractions in the area include Deep Creek, waterfalls,
gem mining, Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Biltmore Estate, Fontana
Dam, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Dillsboro and Pigeon Forge.
Plan
your next vacation or romantic weekend respite in the fresh
mountain air of the Smoky Mountains and make your reservations
at the Smoky Mountain Retreat. Fun for the whole family. You
won't be disappointed by these fantastic cabins built with
lots of love and labor.
