Music Festival
The Lake Tahoe Summer Music Festival began in 1982 as a small two-week summer series of concerts on Lake Tahoe's North Shore, providing classical music in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Tahoe The founder, Edgar Braun, attorney and accomplished world-wide maestro, established the Music Festival as a non-profit event originally funded by tourism grants, local individual sponsors, the North Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. Unparalleled music, mountain venues, and majestic settings around North Lake Tahoe and Truckee set this Festival apart, drawing as many as 10,000 visitors and residents each year, and growing. Events are scheduled from July 18 through August 17 on Thursdays and Saturdays with picnicking at 5 p.m., and performances beginning at 7 p.m. The venues around Lake Tahoe and Truckee include Sierra Nevada College, the Resort at Squaw Creek, Squaw Valley USA, Tahoe City, Donner Lake, Tahoe Donner and Northstar Tahoe.
