Morningstar Fudgy Brownies

Guest find these rich, fudgy brownies awaiting them in their room when they check in.

Ingredients:

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate

1-1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) butter

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup flour

1 cup chopped pecans

20 pecan halves

Melt chocolate and butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Measure the sugar onto a large bowl and stir in the melted chocolate and butter. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Add the flour, mixing well, then add the chopped pecans with a few quick stirs.

Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan with cooking spray. Spread the brownie mixture evenly into the pan. Top with 4 rows of 5 pecan halves. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into 20 squares.
