The Wolf Hotel in Saratoga,
Wyoming in the Upper North Platte River Valley.
On New Year's Eve, 1893, The Hotel Wolf opened with a gala
masquerade ball and sumptuous dinner. Exactly 100 years later,
a like celebration commenced to honor the "Grand Old Gal"
of the Valley. Frederick G. Wolf built the two and one-half
story, red-brick and frame building way back then. It was the
tallest building in downtown Saratoga for many years. Since
Mr. Wolf was such a popular businessman, the Hotel soon became
the hub of the community, noted for its "fine food and
convivial atmosphere."
In 1977, Kathleen and Doug Campbell purchased the Hotel
registered in the National Register of Historic Places. They
have remodeled and restored the building and restaurant.
Today, three of their children -- Kirsten, Judd, and Meghan --
participate in the management of the Hotel. With careful
attention to its historical value and the comfort and
convenience for modern-day travelers, the Hotel Wolf stands to
welcome you.
Furnished with some of the original furniture, the guest
rooms are quaint, clean, and charming. An Executive Suite
featuring wet bar, queen bed, and sitting area is available.
Three additional suites have been added to provide upscale
accommodations. All nine guest rooms sport private baths.
The Hotel Wolf Restaurant enjoys a regional reputation for
excellence. Luncheon items include a varied selection of
freshly prepared sandwiches, the famous Wolf Burger, soup, and
a fresh salad bar, along with daily specials. At dinner,
various cuts of steak, prime rib, chicken and seafood are
featured, accompanied by the soup/salad bar. The Old Time
Saloon is a great gathering place for travelers, sportsmen and
salesmen to recap the day and partake of a favorite beverage.
Originally designated the "Sample Room," it's said
the best fishing of all takes place right in this room - night
after night! |
Saratoga, elevation 6,792 feet, is nestled among cattle
ranches in the Upper North Platte River Valley, east of the
Continental Divide. Prehistoric volcanic activity left the
town with a beautiful mineral hot springs pool, free and open
24 hours a day all year long. Flanked by the Sierra Madre and
Snowy Range Mountains, the area is abundant with wildlife. The
North Platte is a Blue Ribbon trout stream alive with activity
in the summer and fall. Big game hunting begins in September.
Most spectacular is the Snowy Range Scenic Byway, Hwy 130, not
to be missed. |
