edge of the Big Horn National Forest. It is the oldest bed and

Your host, a former geologist and Yellowstone Ranger,
and his family built their solar-powered log home and
guest cabins themselves. |
Guest bedrooms in the Main Lodge have private baths and the
country luxury of handmade quilts, ruffled curtains, and
scenic views. Secluded cabins feature old-fashioned front
porches and private shower bathrooms.
Cabin guests will enjoy a five-minute forest walk to
breakfast in the Main Lodge, a wonderful way to start the day.
The Spahn's family-style breakfast is served either in the
dining room or out on the deck. Conversation centers around
plans for the day, with Ron providing tips and binoculars to
survey the abundant wildlife. Most guests participate in the
twice-weekly evening steak cookout and wildlife safaris done
with binoculars and cameras in search of moose, elk, and deer.
Many partake in Ron's all-day tours to remote corners of the
region (missed by ordinary tourists) to visit outlaw hideouts,
wild horse herds, mountain tops, battle sites, and Indian
ruins. However, the Spahns make efforts to ensure that guests
are also able to explore and discover on their own. Enjoy
the local area activities and attractions:
- Hiking: Black Mountain, Tongue River Canyon
- Golf: championship golf course within ten miles
- History: Custer's Last Stand
- Auto Touring: three Scenic Byways
- Shopping: Sheridan's 1910 Main Street

Lose yourself in Cloud Peak Wilderness amidst the vast,
roadless area of lakes and alpine peaks for ideal hiking and
fishing. If you have the energy, you can trek a few more miles
to Geneva Lake with its peaceful picnic and fishing spots. If
you like to discover relics, there are old mines and cabins
hidden throughout the area, including a cabin that Ernest
Hemingway resided in after World War I where he wrote A
Farewell to Arms.
The Big Horn area doesn't have malls, and nearby Sheridan's
main street will remind you of bygone days. There are western
stores, antique shops, art galleries, and cozy book stores.
Shop Sheridan's 1910 Main Street, then visit the Historic
Sheridan Inn, once the premier hotel in the region in an era
when Teddy Roosevelt, Will Rogers, and Ernest Hemingway were
frequent guests and the Buffalo Bill Wild West show rehearsed
on the front lawn.
Spahn's Bighorn Mountain Bed and Breakfast takes you back to
a place of history and beauty that is rarely seen in America
today. For the person who doesn't want curio shops, condos,
and crowds, this is a special place. |
