Ingredients

2 Tablespoons shortening

1 cup sugar

1 egg

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup orange juice

1 cup halved raw cranberries

1/2 cup broken pecans

Cream shortening and sugar, add egg. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with orange juice. Stir in cranberries and nuts. Bake in greased bread pan or two tea-sized bread pans at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to one hour. Try it sliced, toasted and topped with vanilla ice cream. Recipe can be doubled.
