1st Traveler's Choice
Visit George Washington's bathtub in Berkeley Springs State Park (the only monument to presidential bathing) and soak in the same healing waters at the historic Roman Baths. While you're in the park, examine spa history at the Museum of the Berkeley Springs. Self-guided tours introduce both the Town of Bath's original 18th century owners -- including its first president -- and historic sites throughout the county. Several bed and breakfasts and a castle built for love are the remnants of the town's popularity as a Victorian spa. There are Civil War sites and the railroad town of Paw Paw with its world-famous C&O Canal tunnel, hand-carved in the late 1840s.
