Arbor House, one of Madison, Wisconsin's oldest existing
homes, is a National award-winning inn and model for
sustainable tourism. Located across the street from the
University of Wisconsin Arboretum, the 1800's landmark and
Annex addition are surrounded by native gardens and mature
trees. Formerly the Plough Inn, the historic structure served
as a tavern and stagecoach stop dating back to 1853. The inn's
original wood floors, natural stone fireplaces, and dramatic
great room are just some of the features that are admired by
visitors today and make the Inn a wonderful hotel alternative.
Recent additions include a sauna and beautiful sunroom for all
guests to enjoy.
All eight guestrooms have queen-size beds except for the
Studio and Tap Rooms, which have king-sized beds. Each lodging
accommodations features a private bath, and several have
fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. A reading chair or couch is
available for relaxation. A welcome beverage is served upon
your arrival, and hot tea or herbal ice tea is available at
any time. Aveda hair care products are offered for
guest use, and cable television is available in most rooms as
well. Wireless high-speed Internet access is complimentary.
You may choose the Cozy Rose, a quaint guest room
with an antique bed, pale rose walls, and a beautiful floral
pattern on the linens. A natural stone fireplace, velvet
reading chair, wet bar, and whirlpool bath add to the romance
of the room. As a finishing touch, a fresh rose is placed in
the room to greet you on arrival. Or perhaps you would enjoy
the Tap Room, once a popular tavern in which carriage
travelers stopped for spirits and then danced upstairs. A "bubble
bath for two" soaking clawfoot tub is one of the features
of this newly renovated guest room. Silky linens, a dart
board, and game table add to this very special accommodation.
Memorable breakfasts are found at The Arbor House with an
extended continental breakfast during the weekdays and a full
breakfast feast on weekends. Room service is available for
corporate clients. |
