Bed and Breakfast Resort

Justin Trails Resort is situated on 213 acres in Sparta, Wisconsin, of which 143 acres are forest of red and white oak, paper birch, aspen, and hickory. Seventy acres of alfalfa (grassy legume) and corn or soybeans grow in neats strips around the contour of the hills (contour strip cropping).

These contour strips in southwestern Wisconsin give the resort the picture-postcard beauty that many travelers enjoy viewing. Hiking/running/mountain biking trails wind through the fields and woods past three conservation ponds to The Rock outcropping with wonderful panoramic vistas of Leon Valley and the Little La Crosse River. Two 18-basket disc golf courses with pro and amateur tees are waiting for guests and day users.

The three-acre compound where the guest accommodations are located is landscaped with gardens of perennials, three mature silver maples, one 50-year-old white pine and an assortment of shrubs and evergreens. Brick walkways lead to each building.

The resort began with 10 miles of ski trails in 1985, adding two rooms for bed and breakfast guests the following year. Since that humble beginning, three additional accommodations have been added: Little House on the Prairie log cabin with whirlpool in the loft (accessed by a ladder), Paul Bunyan log cabin with its loft bedroom, and the Granary cottage. Each cabin/cottage has a porch or deck with patio furniture. The yellow four-square house has two suites on the second floor and a suite on the first floor. All accommodations, except the first floor suite, have an oversized whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, private bath and queen- or king-sized bed. All rooms have VCR and/or DVD players and air conditioning, and several suites and cabins have satellite TV hook-up. Children and pets are welcome in the cabins and cottage.

Enjoy the two 18-hole Disc Golf Courses. For the adventurer, there are plenty of things to do and see. Bike the Elroy-Sparta or Great River Trails, canoe the La Crosse River, browse through Amish craft, quilt and furniture shops, hike the surrounding hills, or cross-country ski and snow tube the slope behind the buildings. There are several top-notch restaurants in the area for your enjoyment.

Justin Trails B&B Resort offers special seasonal activities. During the winter participate in some of the activities offered by Justin Trails Nordic Ski Center. Try cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow tubing, or attempt something new like ski joring and dog sledding with Heidi and George, the Siberian huskies.
