  • Directions: From Seattle: take Bainbridge Island Ferry. Ferries leave about every 45 minutes, and cost around $10.00 for auto/driver & passenger. After departing ferry, follow signs to Hood Canal Bridge. Cross bridge, continue to Hwy 104, then Hwy 19, following signs to Port Townsend. Approximate time from Seattle to Port Townsend is 1-1/2 hours.
    From Tacoma: From Interstate 5 take Hwy 16 toward Gig Harbor/Bremerton. Continue to Hwy 3 North (to Hood Canal Bridge). Cross bridge and continue on Hwy 104, then Hwy 19, following signs to Port Townsend. Approximate driving time from Tacoma is 1-1/2 hours.
    From Kingston: After departing ferry, follow signs to Hood Canal Bridge. Cross bridge, continue on Hwy 104, then Hwy 19, following signs to Port Townsend. Approximate driving time from ferry to Port Townsend is 45 minutes.
    From Points North: Follow Hwy 20 to Keystone (on Whidbey Island). Take ferry directly into Port Townsend. Ferry crossing is 30 minutes.
    Direct Flight to Port Townsend: Call Port Townsend Airways (800) 385-6554 for flight information.
    Once in Port Townsend: Coming into town, go through the first stop light (past Safeway & Visitors Information Center) & make an immediate left up the hill. Go 5 blocks. The James House is on the left overlooking the Whidbey Island Ferry.
