Windsor is the
Birthplace of Vermont. And, the restored Old Constitution
House looks much like it did more than 200 years ago. Just
down the street is the American Precision Museum, which
houses exhibits celebrating the manufacturing heritage of
the Precision Valley. Across the road is the longest covered
bridge in the country, the Windsor-Cornish Covered Bridge.
Windsor is also the home of the Vermont State Craft Center
at Windsor House. The Green Mountain Flier offers foliage
train rides from the heart of Chester Depot to Bellows
Falls. Don't miss Springfields Precision Valley
Corvette Museum.
Bed
and breakfast lodges and several mountain
ski resorts,
including Ascutney Mountain, Okemo, Killington, Stratton,
Bromley and Magic Mountain, are close.
Golf
enthusiasts can play and dine at Springfield's 18-hole
championship Crown Point Country Club, with numerous other
courses in nearby towns. Hoyt's Landing, at the junction of
the Connecticut and Black Rivers is popular for boating,
fishing,
swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and water skiing. Nature
enthusiasts also enjoy the North Springfield Bog,
Springweather Nature Area, Hartness Park and Stoughton Pond. |
