| Vermont
is filled with charming
bed
and breakfast inns and friendly people who celebrate
arts, talent, and humor. And no region of the state is more
indicative of that welcoming humor than the town of
Brattleboro, site of the Heifer Stroll, the Green Mountain
State's light-hearted version of Spain's famous running of
the bulls. For 42 years, the premier juried art show in
southern Vermont has been held in a setting so spectacular
that it is quite naturally called Art on the Mountain.
This 16-day art extravaganza annually draws visitors from
across the country. Step into Naulakha, Rudyard Kipling's
home in Vermont. One of the most revered authors of his day,
Kipling wrote many acclaimed novels and poems, including "The
Jungle Books" and "Captains Courageous" (to
name but two of the works written at Naulakha). Nestled in
Southern Vermonts Green Mountains, Mount Snow Valley
boast excellent alpine
skiing,
as well as great cross-country trails, snowshoeing and
romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides into the woods to a
roaring bonfire. The Green Mountain Region is pure Vermont
beauty .. a place that Robert Frost found inspiration for
his words. A four season recreation and culture destination,
this region offers winter wonderland fun with skiing,
sledding and ice skating. History buffs will want to see the
Bennington Battle Monument is a 306' stone obelisk dedicated
to the battle in 1777 and the Bennington Museum. Inside The
Apple Barn, smell the aromas of fresh-baked goods. Outside,
the world's only Pumpkin-Eating Dinosaur guards Vermont's
oldest cornfield maze. And don't miss the Vermont Covered
Bridge Museum features a theatre production evolving all the
history & importance of covered bridges. this area
