photo of swimming hole at Bailey's Mills Bed and Breakfast, Reading, Vermont

Winding through the beautiful countryside just ten miles south of Woodstock, Vermont, quiet back roads approach the scenic Bailey's Mills Bed and Breakfast. This historic home lies nestled in a small valley and alongside the brook where Levi Bailey first built his mills before 1800. The traditional appearing southern mansion dates back almost 200 years and wonderfully rustic antiques can be found on display in the adjoining general store that was founded in 1829.

The oldest wing of the Inn contains the Honeymoon Suite with a king-size bed and expansive solarium overlooking the stream. The other guest rooms each have a queen-size bed, cozy sitting area, and working fireplace. All offer private baths, cheerful romantic decor, and plush down pillows amidst elegant linens.

Bailey's Mills is surrounded by the pastoral landscape travelers have come to love about Vermont. The nearest paved road is a mile away and the lush pasture and woodland present many secluded paths leading to a private pond. Many guests enjoy visiting the nearby horse, cow and llama farms. Be sure to check out the "Twenty Foot Hole," a well-known swimming spot hidden on a wooded byway. The town of Woodstock offers shopping, galleries, antiquing and also some excellent restaurants.

With historic architecture and a lush woodland setting, Bailey's Mills Bed and Breakfast is a relaxing and cozy stop for anyone traveling in Vermont. With wineries, multiple winter ski areas and much much more, you will never be bored.

Breakfast...

Breakfast, a grand buffet of fresh fruits, pies and muffins, plus a hot entree, is served in the colonial dining room.

In the summertime the graceful front porch offers a wonderful setting for breakfast or long hours of lounging.

Guests are welcome to explore the verdant garden room, choose a book in the cozy library, or retire for some quiet conversation in the parlor.

One hammock swings near the stream, and another is secluded on the upper porch.
