Alexandra Bed and Breakfast is a lovely 1859 farmhouse that sits on two pastoral acres facing Historic Route 7 at the edge of Bennington and overlooking the Green Mountains of Vermont.

The Alexandra Bed and Breakfast offers guests spacious rooms, each with private bath, cable television, VCR, telephone, Wireless Internet and a decor that breeds a countrified English ambience. Some of the bathrooms have the added luxury of jetted tubs. The six newest guestrooms include fireplaces, 25-inch television screens, VCRs, sitting areas, and king-sized beds. Plus, guests are invited to use the central sitting room, sunroom, and terrace.

Alexandra's gourmet breakfast features a revolving menu each morning. Enjoy a selection of juices, hot beverages, home-mixed granola with dried fruits and nuts, fresh fruit salad, pastry and an originally prepared hot main dish complement the formula for a wonderful experience and a great way to start the day. The main course menu may include one of these: Pancakes with blueberries and caramelized apples, French toast topped with fried bananas and sautéed pears, Waffles with berry’s syrup, eggs and omelets de jour, among others. In the late afternoons the breakfast room serves as the stage for a casual and informal afternoon tea with a daily baked item and a display of herb teas and blends.

The acreage originally belonged to a relative of Samuel Robinson, the founder of Bennington. Although the original owner's fertile farmland now sits only five minutes from the heart of Robinson's "Old Bennington," it still seems rather remote. Orchards surround the home, and the mountains' foothills provide a scenic backdrop to a countryscape that seems to bend time with its quietude.

Guests enjoy strolling through the gardens that change colors all through the year. In the winter, cross-country skiing can be accessed right from the property.
