The Applebutter Inn is nestled in the quiet
and peaceful hamlet of Taftsville, Vermont, three miles from
the centers of Woodstock and Quechee.
As a guest, you're away from the hustle
and bustle of the villages, enjoying the breath-taking views
of the Green Mountains and the landscaped grounds while
peacefully strolling along the country roads of this New
England bed and breakfast inn.
On the National Register of Historic Places
and built in 1854, the Inn is a Federal gabled house with a
magical atmosphere that reflects the joy of living in an
authentically restored Vermont home. The interior of the Inn
is tastefully decorated to create a touch of elegance combined
with comfort and warmth. Guests are welcome to watch
television in the Yellow Room, play the gorgeous Mason &
Hamlin grand piano in the Music Room or enjoy a glass of iced
tea on the porch overlooking the grounds. Soft traditional
colors, unique antiques, original stenciling, wide pine
floorboards and oriental rugs all add to a memorable and
comfortable stay at the Applebutter Inn (making it worthy of
its recommendation in Yankee and Food and Wine
Magazines.
Hospitality is foremost at Applebutter,
which is evident in its quality, comfort and attention to
detail. The lodging accommodations, each with private bath,
are adorned with fresh flowers. Four-poster antique beds with
feather mattresses, fine linens, and down comforters and
pillows make it "hard to get up in the morning."
You'll awaken in the morning to the aroma
of the breads, muffins, scones or biscuits gently baking in
the oven. The healthy gourmet breakfast also may include
granola, crepes, French toast, pancakes, or berry and apple
bread puddings plus, of course, homemade applebutter, all
graciously served in the sunny Breakfast Room.
Complimentary teas and snacks are available
in the afternoon. For dinner, let your hosts make reservations
for you in one of the many fine restaurants minutes away.
Spacious and quiet, the Inn is a perfect place to hold
weddings, retreats, family reunions, workshops, and small
conferences or meetings. Barbara and Michael will be happy to
help you plan an event. |
Activities abound at this country hideaway:
travel through the Taftsville Covered Bridge by the rushing
waterfall and walk, jog or bike on River Road along the
Ottauquechee River. On the Inn's lawn, you can picnic, read
and relax, or go sledding and cross-country skiing in winter.
Area attractions include Dartmouth College,
Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park, St. Gaudens National
Historic Site, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, the
Taftsville Country Store, Sugarbush Cheese and Maple Syrup
Farm, Simon Pierce pottery and hand-blown glass showrooms, and
the President Calvin Coolidge homestead. |
