The West Hill House Bed and Breakfast Inn
is an 1850's Vermont home situated on a quiet country lane, in
the heart of the Green Mountains and the Mad River Valley.
Here you can enjoy many activities year
'round. The Inn is located on a nine-acre property, less than
one mile from Sugarbush Ski slopes and adjacent to its Robert
Trent Jones Golf Course and cross-country ski center.
Lovely perennial gardens, meadows, a beaver
pond, and splendid views of nearby mountains can be admired
from the bed and breakfast's front porch. The bed and
breakfast's gardens, two landscaped ponds, and unusual birch
tree gazebo are on the annual Art in the Garden Tour, part of
the Festival of the Arts.
West Hill House was voted one of the five
top B&B's in New England in 2007 and was one of the only
two inns in Vermont receiving an award. West Hill House was
named Editor's Choice in the Yankee Magazine's 2006 Travel
Guide to New Englandand reviewed and respected by Travel
and Leisure Magazine, the Boston Globe (as
recently as November 2003), Washington Post, Ski Magazine
(November 2003), and Long Island Newsday attesting to
excellent accommodations and friendly service that await
travelers.
In 2008 West Hill House was once again
delighted to receive from a "Best B&B Award" in
the New England Region for the 2nd consecutive year- the only
B&B in Vermont recognized by this award each year. This
intimate, charming inn offers eight guest accommodations, each
with a gas fireplace and a private bath with a whirlpool or
steambath. Guests relax in easy and comfortable elegance amid
antiques, oriental rugs, and original art. Guest rooms are
filled with special touches such as handmade quilts, thick and
fluffy towels, down comforters and pillows, and good reading
lights. Other amenities found in all guest rooms are cable
TV's with VCR/DVD player, telephones with voice mail, WiFi/DSL
Internet access, and queen, king, or twin beds. Three of the
guestrooms are suites, one with bedroom, bath, study, spa
room, and private deck with outside entrance -- and a private
parking spot.
Sumptuous three-course breakfasts feature
fresh fruit, muffins just out of the oven, and luscious
specialties of the day. Afternoon tea and bed-time snacks are
part of the package. In addition to recommendations for dining
at one of the many excellent nearby restaurants, guests are
offered two options for eating at West Hill in the evening. If
you will be arriving between 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and do
not plan to stop for dinner en route, for a small additional
charge, a light table d'hote meal is available when you
arrive; a minimum of 24 hours notice is needed For six or more
guests who confirm their interest no later than breakfast
time, a full candlelight dinner with a choice from a limited
menu can be served. Raiding the cookie jar is encouraged. |
Activities in the area include skiing,
golf, tennis, hiking, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and
soaring. Sugarbush boasts excellent down hill and
cross-country skiing. Spend a day exploring local shops, fine
restaurants, quaint villages, covered bridges, galleries,
summer concerts, and theater nearby. Enjoy local festivals
such as the Mad River Winter Carnival, Vermont Festival of the
Arts in the Mad River Valley, and Fourth of July
Celebrations. You can visit the home of America's best ice
cream, Ben and Jerry's.
At day's end, return to the comfortable
ambiance of the library, living room, or sun room. On a cold
winter's night, you can enjoy a number of working fireplaces
throughout the house.
Well traveled innkeepers, Peter and Susan,
are continuing the long-standing tradition of comfort,
hospitality, and great food at the West Hill House Bed and
Breakfast. |
