High Meadow Bed and Breakfast and Vacation Rental, set in a
magnificent mountain meadow with water and mountain views, is
a cheerful, intimate sunny cottage in the Green Mountain
National Forest area in Goshen, Vermont. This unique location
offers guests the opportunity to commune and reconnect with
quiet, pristine nature. High Meadow also offers long-term room
rental and whole-house rentals with adequate notice.
The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and guests become part
of the household during their stay. The downstairs is very
bright, open, and airy with a French country atmosphere and an
artsy blend of styles. The upstairs is Swedish modern with
bright skylights and cheerful colors. Patrice's artwork and
pottery is scattered throughout the house for all to enjoy,
along with unusual artifacts from her travels. You have your
choice of three bedroom with twin- or full-sized beds and a
private or shared bath.
Guests wanting a very early breakfast will find a full
self-serve buffet, and a more elaborate full-service breakfast
will be available later. Patrice is a degreed chef who
emphasizes organic whole foods and grows much of what she
serves herself. All breakfasts will include fresh or cooked
fruit medleys; home-baked biscuits, breads, and muffins; a
choice of cereals; robust coffee; and an assortment of teas
and chais. Friendly pet chickens supply the organic eggs.
Lunch and dinner are available with advance notice, and guests
are welcome to store and cook their own food in the kitchen!
Patrice will prepare meals for those with special dietary
needs upon advance request.

Middlebury College and 15 minutes from the famous Breadloaf
Writer's Conference Center. Middlebury features lovely "one
of a kind" shops, traditional family style as well as
ethnic and health food restaurants, and small galleries. The
Middlebury College has live performances of plays, music and
dance. There is also a foreign film schedule that runs
throughout the year, free of charge. Or you can spend a day in
the "big city" of Burlington with its vibrant street
life, European-style cafes, restaurants, intimate clubs, and
off-beat shops. |
Goshen is a hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and
cross-country skiing paradise with miles of well-maintained
trails, waterways, and lakes.
Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are within walking
distance, and Patrice will be happy to share her knowledge of
the area with you. She also holds wild mushroom forays and is
glad to take you on a nature walk by request for a minimal
charge.
The renowned Shelburne Museum, closeby, is a unique
collection of actual historic shops, homes, and American
artifacts outside of Burlington. Or, just take one of the
famous scenic drives along Route 100, passing through charming
and well-preserved traditional towns and villages. |
