Built in 1826, the Melendy Farm became a
25-room country inn in 1943. On a knoll overlooking the
beautiful West River, today The Londonderry Inn is your home
away from home when you wish to experience all the pleasure
and activities of the beautiful Green Mountain region of
Vermont.
The homestead offers comfortable guest
rooms and sprawling common areas for families, couples, and
friends to discover and enjoy. You will have your choice of
rooms with king, queen, double, or twin beds, all with private
baths. Also available are family rooms and suites sleeping up
to six, or two couples traveling together can stay in the
two-bedroom suite.
After a day of winter activity, guests like
to relax in the living room in front of the huge Belgian block
fireplace or play ping-pong or pocket billiards in one of the
game rooms. Another option is watching movies in the
comfortable movie room with a cup of hot cocoa or hot apple
cider. Have a glass of wine, listen to music, play the piano,
or share stories with other guests by the fire.
Mornings greet you with an organic
vegetarian breakfast in the dining room, originally the farm's
oversized woodshed. Afternoons bring fresh-baked cookies, and
during the cooler seasons, hot soup and fresh bread are
available in the evening for guests who want to stay in rather
than go out to one of the many fine nearby restaurants.
The days are warm and the nights crisp, and
The Londonderry Inn is the ideal location to experience it
all. Maple syrup and pumpkins, hickory smoked cheddar cheese,
fine woodcrafts, old barns filled with antiques, and exquisite
Belgian horses with their flaxen manes and tails are just the
beginning of southern Vermont's fall landscape.
With lovely hand-hooked rugs and teddy
bears, quilts and Maya's romantic paintings, The Londonderry
Inn inspires creativity, togetherness, and happiness. Your
hosts look forward to welcoming you again and again! |
The Londonderry Inn is located right in the
heart of ski country -- just ten minutes from Stratton,
Bromley, and Magic Mountain and 35 minutes from Okemo.
Cross-country skiing, sleigh riding, and
outdoor ice skating are also minutes from the Inn. The
Londonderry Inn even has its own sledding hill where younger
guests enjoy saucering with one of the huge serving trays from
the kitchen.
When the snow melts, the Green Mountains
supply endless hiking trails and scenic country roads for
cycling. Swimming, fishing, and horseback riding are also
nearby.
Golfers can enjoy the 27-hole championship
course at Stratton Mountain or nearby Tater Hill. The Inn's
spring-fed swimming pool welcomes you after a day of
sight-seeing and offers a lovely view of Glebe Mountain
showered by gold by the afternoon sun.
And who can forget fall foliage? This is a
special time when the Green Mountains turn to crimson, orange,
and gold. |
