Come to the Fitch Hill Inn and discover a taste of the past
in a history-filled home, built circa 1797 in Hyde Park,
Vermont. Fitch Hill Inn is a AAA Three Diamond Bed and
Breakfast in a home built by Darius Fitch.
The land was a wedding gift from his father Jabez, an
original proprietor of Hyde Park and a Captain during the War
for Independence. The home has served as part of a working
farm, been used as a school house, and has been a country inn
for a decade and a half. The Inn sits on a hill top 1/4 mile
off VT Rtes 15 & 100, with spectacular views in a quiet
and picturesque setting on over three acres of land.
Each guest room has its own special flavor and all have
private baths. The Quebec Country Room, a
sunny, south-facing room, offers an iron Victorian full-sized
bed with a Vermont-made Millenium Star quilt. The
Massachusetts Room can be configured with two twin
beds or a king-size bed (with extra padding so the princess
won't feel the pea) and has Vermont-made Northern Star quilts.
The Vermont Federal Room has a queen-sized
canopy bed and The New York Room has a
queen-sized pencil post bed. You may want to try The
New Hampshire Suite with its beautiful mural,
queen-size sleigh bed, two-person whirlpool tub, sleeper sofa,
TV/VCR, wet bar, and gas fireplace. The Green Mountain
Suite, on the ground floor, has a queen bed with a
Vermont-made Log-Cabin quilt, two-person whirlpool tub,
sleeper sofa, gas fireplace, TV/VCR, refrigerator, microwave,
and private deck.
Breakfast is a special event, including fresh fruit,
homemade muffins, and a main course such as Stuffed French
Toast with Blueberry Sauce or Egg Strata with mushrooms,
sun-dried tomatoes and bacon. You hosts are happy to
accommodate any dietary needs and we serve breakfast at a time
convenient to you. |
Relax on the two covered porches and the deck and enjoy
views of the Green Mountains (and valleys) or the Inn's
gardens and woods. If the weather is not amenable for outdoor
activities or relaxing, you can read or play games in the
living room or watch a movie from our 200 tape collection in
the TV room. "We want you to make yourselves at home."
Come and relax away from the hubbub of everyday life, or just
rest up after a busy day enjoying Vermont's wonderful outdoor
activities and shopping.
The Fitch Hill Inn is 12 miles north of Stowe Village, about
1/2 hour from Stowe Mountain Resort and Smugglers' Notch
Resort, and about 40 minutes from Jay Peak Resort. The Inn's
proximity to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, Cold Hollow
Cider Mill, and Cabot Creamery allows for a tasty afternoon
trip. Antique stores abound, and there are a number of art
galleries and craft shops in the area. Sleigh or carriage
rides are available, or take a trip on horseback, hike the
Long Trail or Mount Elmore, or ski the Catamount Trail. Canoe
or kayak on the Lamoille River, Lake Elmore or the Green
Mountain Reservoir. |
