Welcome to the Lilac Inn in historic
Brandon, Vermont. This National Historic Register House, built
in 1909, was renovated and reopened as an inn in 1991 to
recreate the grandeur of the era in which it was built.
Perhaps you've already seen some of the
Lilac Inn's many features in Yankee and Country
Inns magazines. The Grand Gallery, the architectural focal
point of the inn, is also the social center, where you may
take tea in the afternoon or play cards after dinner. From
there, you can head to the tavern for a drink with some lively
conversation or, if you seek solitude, retire to the library.
Outside, stroll the grounds or practice on the putting green.
At night, stargaze on the garden patio or steal away to the
gazebo with your true love.
Guest
Accommodations... With deceptive ease, the Lilac Inn
juxtaposes dramatic open spaces with cozy, comfortable
surroundings. Although the floor plan covers ten thousand
square feet, the Inn features just nine guest rooms, each
uniquely designed and decorated for both aesthetics and
practicality. Through careful blending of the new and the old,
each room evokes the ambiance of the past without forgoing the
conveniences of the present. Modern appointments, placed
discreetly, do not intrude on the room's period decor. Feel
free to spend an evening relaxing by the fireplace, watching
television, or taking a languorous bath in your tiled
bathroom's deep porcelain tub.
Brandon
rests in the Otter Creek Valley between the Adirondacks and
the Green Mountains. Chartered in 1746, the historic village
exemplifies the classic New England small town. Locally, you
may tour the Vermont Ski Museum, The Stephen Douglas House,
and the Warren Kimble Art Studio. Middlebury College and the
Shelburne Museum are close by along with a number of other
shops and attractions.
Nearby Lake Champlain and Lake Dunmore, as
well as numerous streams and smaller lakes, offer swimming,
boating, and fishing. Killington Mountain and Blueberry Hill
to the south and east provide terrain for cross-country and
downhill skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. Golf is just
minutes away at the Neshboe Golf Course.
As a guest of the Lilac Inn, you will find
the same elegance and genteel hospitality that one would have
felt on a holiday in the country eighty years ago combined
with the conveniences of today. |
Breakfast ...
Whether you choose a casual meal in the tavern or a more
formal dinner in the West Garden Room, you will delight in the
award-winning cuisine. The menu, which relies on local
products and many Vermont recipes, changes often, but the
commitment to quality is constant. Breakfasts are also a full
gourmet fare, from fresh fruit to fresh pastries and muffins.
Fine food, lovely presentation, and gracious service has made
the Lilac Inn a favorite for local diners as well as overnight
guests.
Weddings and
Events...
With space for 150 people in the glassed-in ballroom, The
Lilac Inn frequently hosts various musical and cultural events
from chamber music concerts to wine tastings. Private affairs,
such as business conferences and family gatherings, can also
be accommodated. Events can be completely catered by the Lilac
Inn staff, and the entire Inn can be rented out for special
occasions. The Lilac Inn is a favorite setting for weddings;
the Inn's wedding coordinator can work closely with the couple
to plan the ceremony, entertainment, dining arrangements, and
wedding cake. |
