Grand Marnier French Toast

Ingredients:

4 eggs plus 2 egg whites

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 cups milk

1 Tablespoon Grand Marnier liqueur

1 teaspoon orange oil

grated rind of 1 orange

1 loaf sweet French bread (12 slices)

confectioners' sugar

In a large bowl, mix together eggs, egg whites, sugar, and salt. Stir in milk, Grand Marnier, orange oil, and rind. Dip bread in egg mixture until saturated. Arrange slices on a baking sheet and sprinkle lightly with nutmeg; let stand 1 hour or refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large, greased skillet or on a heated and oiled griddle, slowly brown both sides of bread. Place on a clean baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Place in a serving plate and sprinkle generously with confectioners' sugar. Serve with butter and syrup. Bon appetit!
