The Funny Farm Inn
is a 75 acre horse farm nestled in the foothills of the Blue
Ridge Mountains, nine miles southwest of Culpeper, just 40
minutes from historic Charlottesville, and 1-1/2 hours from
Washington DC. The Funny Farm is the perfect place for a
romantic getaway, trail riding and hiking adventures. Find
peace and quiet while horse showing at Commonwealth Park,
sight-seeing, searching for real estate or just relaxing in
front of a fireplace or beside the pool.
Stay in a beautiful,
large, European style cottage overlooking the farm. The house
offers two completely separate, private, self contained
levels. Guests may stay in either level or rent the whole
house fora larger group. Each level can comfortably sleep 6-7
guests, but are also delightful for a couple or smaller
groups.
While visiting,
guests can enjoy an assortment of resident dogs, cats,
miniature horses, mules, goats, ducks, geese, chickens,
turkeys, and of course, horses. For those guests who wish to
bring horses, the Funny Farm Inn offers the finest in horse
accommodations with deluxe barn, rubber footed ring, board
fencing and trails. The Inn is within one hour of seven
foxhunts, fifteen minutes to HITS of Culpeper, and fifteen
minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountain trail system. The Funny
Farm Inn does not offer rental horses, but your hosts can make
arrangements for guided trail rides on safe horses.
While staying at the
Inn, you can also enjoy the Skyline Drive and Luray Caverns or
tour local wineries. A short drive will take you to historic
Monticello, Montpelier, Ashlawn and Civil War Battlefields.
Wonderful antique shops, fine restaurants, hiking trails, and
superb fishing streams are only minutes away in the Shenandoah
National Park. There are also miles of hiking trails directly
from the Inn. |

for 2010
The upper level
offers a sky lit kitchen open to a living room with 25'
cathedral ceilings and exposed beams, a dining room with a
large bay window, huge master bedroom with a 4 poster queen
bed and a twin day bed with a full bath and garden tub. There
is a loft bedroom with a queen sleigh bed, twin rollaway, and
full bath with shower. Outside is a covered porch and patio
with chairs and a grill.
The lower level has
a living room/kitchen combination with dining area, large
master bedroom with a queen four poster bed, twin roll away,
and a full bath. There is also a second large sunny bedroom
with two double beds. Outside there is a private patio with a
grill, table, umbrella, and chairs.
Both levels have AC, central heat,
satellite TV, DVD, stereos, phones, and a gas woodstove which
is very cozy in the winter. The entire house is beautifully
decorated and furnished with many antiques from local shops.
It is a short stroll from the large in ground swimming pool.
