Surrounded on three sides by salt water, the North River Inn
spreads luxuriously across 100 acres of Virginia countryside
in the historic Tidewater region off the Chesapeake Bay. An
avenue of towering red maples serves as your welcoming
committee at the Inn. Standing tall and stately, these silent
sentinels guide you to your lodging getaway.
The North River Inn is housed in three distinct historic
structures, each in a different location on the 100-acre
estate. Toddsbury Cottage, Creek House, and
Toddsbury Guest House, with exquisite views
and river access, all are on the water and at the end of
private lanes. Each room or suite offers its own ambiance and
appeal, with 18th- and 19th- century family antiques, private
baths, air-conditioning, and telephone.
Toddsbury Cottage offers two rooms, one of
which can be made into a suite. All share a screened porch and
fireplaced living room and dining room. The downstairs bedroom
features a Franklin Stove, while a romantic canopied bed
awaits you in the suite's large master bedroom. Creek
House, patterned after British colonial homes in the
West Indies, contains tall French doors, a sunny
sitting/dining room, and a handsomely appointed meeting/dining
room. Two of the four guest rooms have private entrances, and
the master suite has an ornately carved mahogany king-sized
bed. The exquisite Toddsbury Guest House is
perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway, offering
exceptional privacy and comfort with a fireplaced sitting room
and bedroom with canopied bed and sitting area.
Every morning during the week, you'll be treated to fresh
fruits and locally baked muffins and breads, along with piping
hot gourmet coffee. On the weekends, indulge yourself in an
authentic, hot, southern breakfast cooked to order. |
North River Inn is the ideal setting for meetings and groups
up to 20 people. The large library/meeting room easily seats
20 people at tables. Telephones and fax are available, as are
a fully outfitted kitchen and all-day coffee and cold drinks.
The handsome sitting room serves as an adjunct meeting and "breakout"
room to the primary conference room. Catering is available.
Guests of North River Inn will find several miles of quiet
walks along the shore, down country lanes, and inside the
full-acre 18th-century walled garden. Canoes are available for
rent at the Inn for exploring the river and tidal creeks.
Fishing and guided kayak tours are nearby.
History buffs will have access to Colonial Williamsburg,
Jamestown, Yorktown, and the James River Plantations. Those
traveling with children might experience Busch Gardens or
Water Country, while others might opt for golf at one of the
four area courses. Museums, antiquing, and various military
bases provide additional interest. |
