Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast is a historic
farm (circa 1805) situated on 47 rolling acres in Middleburg
-- the heart of Virginia horse, antiques, and wine country.
Conveniently located on Route 50 West,
Briar Patch is just 20 minutes from Dulles Airport and about
an hour from Washington D.C., nestled in the foothills of the
Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Mountains.
Sip a glass of Virginia wine on the veranda
of this 200-year-old farmhouse and imagine a fierce Civil War
battle unfolding before you. On a fateful day in June 1863,
what is known as the Battle of Haystacks took place on this
very site. Briar Patch combines its fascinating history with
comfortable accommodations and superior hospitality to provide
a casual, relaxed, and homey atmosphere to a wide spectrum of
guests.
Stay in one of the eight bedrooms in the
main house or combine two rooms to create your own suite with
private bath. The two first-floor rooms have private baths and
entrances. Each bedroom is named after a flower to reflect the
colors and scents of the flowering plants surrounding the
house. Several rooms have majestic mountain views, and all are
bright, airy, and inviting. Each room has a king- or
queen-sized bed and is furnished with antiques.
In the morning, join fellow guests for a
full breakfast prepared by manager Becky Croft, known for her
superb morning fare and country hospitality. A full hot
breakfast is served on weekdays in the large kitchen or
outside on the patio. On weekdays, a continental self-serve
breakfast is provided.
If you choose to stay close to the bed and
breakfast, you can meander along the sprawling acreage as you
take in the scenery or simply watch the horses graze. Curl up
with a good book on the veranda overlooking the Bull Run
Mountains, or relax around the large pool or in the oversized
hot tub. Come to Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast for historic
Virginia country relaxation. |
For even more privacy, stay in the fully
equipped one-bedroom cottage. Boasting a full kitchen, living
room with sofa bed, dining area, bedroom with queen-sized bed,
and bath with huge clawfoot tub and shower, this charming
cottage is ideal for a family.
From the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast you
can explore the close by historic towns of Middleburg,
Leesburg, Aldie, Waterford, and Manassas, taking advantage of
the many antique shops and fine dining opportunities. Discover
Civil War battlefields, sample Virginia wine at one of the
nearby wineries, or shop at the outlet mall. Recreationalists
will enjoy horseback riding at one of the local stables,
hiking through the mountains, and playing tennis or golf.
