La Vista Plantation, on the National Register of Historic Places, is located in the lush Spotsylvania County country-side just outside the historic city of Fredericksburg, Virginia. In the 1860's, this quiet rural community became the backdrop for some of the fiercest fighting of the Civil War. The house reflects the classical revival style with its high ceilings, wide heart of pine floors, acorn and oak leaf moldings, and a two story front portico. Guests can enjoy a plantation feel in this gracious home and the ten acre grounds with a fine balance of mature trees, flowering shrubs, pastures, woods, gardens, and a pond stocked with large mouth bass, crappie, chain pickerel, and sunfish (bream).

La Vista Plantation offers elegant accommodations. The main-floor bedroom features a magnificent king-size mahogany rice-carved four-poster bed, working fireplace, Empire-style antiques and a large private bath. A twin-size trundle bed provides additional sleeping options. Just outside, the front portico overlooks the lovely lawn with its ancient shade trees and border gardens.

The Plantation Kitchen Suite offers a large bedroom with queen-size cherry pencil-post canopy bed, working fireplace, and private bath and entrance. A sitting room with queen sleep sofa and additional bedroom with double bed plus a fully equipped plantation kitchen complete the offering.

Both units provide premium bedding, air conditioning, color satellite television with VCR, radio, CD player, hair dryer, refrigerator, linens, utensils, alarm clock and phone.

Guests may use the formal parlor for reading, letter writing or quiet reflection. Free High Speed Wireless is available throughout.

A full breakfast is served each morning featuring fresh brown eggs from resident hens as well as homemade jams.

Spend your days visiting the Fredericksburg area. The Kenmore Mansion, Stonewall Jackson Shrine, Gari Melchers Home and Studio, Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop, Mary Washington House, Rising Sun Tavern and the James Monroe Museum offer old and new and are all worth visiting. For the outdoor enthusiast, fishing, hiking, and birdwatching are excellent activities in the national parks in the area.
