Girlie's Creamy Potato Side Dish

Gloria's mother was called Girlie by her three brothers. She became a wonderful cook in the farmhouse kitchen. The nickname stuck; after her siblings had children, she was called Auntie Girlie! Alice is her given name and she's the best cook we know.

Ingredients

2 pounds Southern-style frozen hash browns, slightly thawed

1 can low-fat cream of chicken soup

1 soup can non-fat milk

1 pint non-fat sour cream (preferably Naturally Yours brand)

1 or move cloves of garlic, pressed, to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (not white cheddar)

1/2 cup or 1 small chopped onion

In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Then pour mixture into 9 x 13-inch casserole dish. (May be frozen at this point for later use.) Bake at 350 degrees about 60 to 70 minutes, longer if frozen.

Serves: 12 generously.
