Janice Marie's Step Back In Time is a delightful bed and
breakfast located in the small town of Terrell, Texas, yet not
far from the bustling Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Built in
1910, this Craftsman bungalow is nestled among huge pecan
trees and features a wraparound porch with a swing that just
begs you to take a break and take it easy for a spell. Out
front, you'll find Grandma's garden, featuring a variety of "old-timey"
flowers. Salvia, dusty miller, snapdragons, bleeding hearts,
hibiscus, and huge elephant ears attest to her green thumb.
As you enter the front door, step back in time to a
place where the atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and full
of good old hospitality, just like Grandma's. French doors
open up onto the porch to create an open, airy atmosphere. The
bed and breakfast is furnished with lovely period furnishings,
right down to the push button light switches. Special touches
such as stenciled floors and careful attention to detail
ensure your stay is everything you want and then some! Each
night you'll be treated to a bedtime snack and have your bed
turned down for you.
Three bedrooms are available, with your choice of private or
shared bath. The first room is a unique seafoam green and
mauve-colored room with a majestic iron bed that sits high off
the floor. During the night, you'll be looked over by a
friendly group of Teddy bears and collectible dolls. The
second room's color scheme is in shades of navy, rust, and
light blue. You'll sleep in a turn-of-the-century Eastlake bed
with a six-foot headboard, accompanied by a matching wardrobe.
There is also a sitting area complete with table and chairs.
Draped in peach and rust, the third room is enhanced by a
comfortable, four-poster bed complete with Granny's feather
pillows. The antique dresser was passed down from Granny, and
a homemade church pew from Janice Marie's Grandpa rests in one
corner.
Janice Marie's Step Back In Time is just minutes from Tanger
Outlet Mall, ten minutes from Forney (the antique capital of
Texas), and plenty of good restaurants. Guests who are more
sports-minded will want to visit the athletic complex near the
bed and breakfast. Golf enthusiasts will love the proximity of
the local course. The entire family will want to visit Canton
Trade Days, an expo of local art, crafts, handiwork, and
unique items that attracts visitors from all over the state.

The roomy, farm-style kitchen has a working antique stove,
Hoosier cabinet, and a full set of Lance cookie jars (which
are the pride and joy of Janice Marie!). Breakfast is a
delicious country fare, usually consisting of bacon, sausage,
eggs, homemade biscuits, gravy, fruit bowls, orange juice, and
freshly brewed coffee. In the separate dining room, guests
gather to enjoy the family-style breakfast spread, giving them
a chance to get to know one another and talk about the day's
upcoming activities. Romantic dinners can be arranged by
special request, proving an intimate setting for you and your
loved one. |
