Wimberley is located on the Blanco River and Cypress Creek about an hour outside of Austin. It is within close proximity to a variety of attractions in San Marcos and New Braunfels. Some of the more popular are Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Wonder World.

The artists' community of Wimberley, known as the Star of the Texas Hill Country, offers a wide variety of shopping and sight-seeing. Outdoor attractions include Pedernales Falls State Park and the cool Blanco River for excellent swimming and tubing. Nearby, San Marcos outlet shopping draws visitors from across the region. From Austin: Follow S Mo-Pac Expy / TX-1 Loop S. Take the exit toward US-290 W / Johnson City / TX-71 / Llano. Merge onto US-290 W via the exit on the left. US-290 W becomes US-290 W. Turn left onto RR 12 / FM-12.
