About:
Artist David Swanagin
"Most
important to me, and really the basis of my work, is strong
shadow and light. I think it makes a scene much more powerful.
If I can convey a sense of place and how it makes me feel,
then I think I've succeeded as an artist."
David Swanagin
is a self-taught oil painter specializing in mood-evoking
landscapes and interiors. He originally began painting at
twelve, where his focus on detail and reality formed the
groundwork for more spontaneous work. His artwork now ranges
from representational to impressionistic. Through light and
shadows, David presents realistic views resulting in appealing
contemporary works. Wanting viewers to feel an emotional
resonance in his work, David attempts to incorporate a sense
of connection between the artist and the scene.
