About:
Artist Katrina Miller
A self taught
artist, Katrina Miller has been creating copper turtles, fish,
birds and various other creatures for twelve years. As a
full-time artist and part-time librarian, Katrina draws from
both worlds to create fun, whimsical and humorous animals.
A variety of
methods are used to forge and fabricate each piece. The
original designs are individually hand formed with hammer,
anvil and heat. The exteriors are hand-painted and patinated
to enhance the natural color of the heated copper.
Katrina's
ideas come from the love of nature, twist of humor, and people
watching. In each and every piece she strives to keep her
designs fresh and spontaneous while maintaining quality
workmanship.
"As a
very young child I would spend wonderful hours with my mother
in the garden. While she planted and weeded I would be
watching all the small "critters" ant, bees, snails,
centipedes, toads and frogs. Today I am drawing on my love for
gardening and my fond childhood memories to created my
sculptures. I hope they bring you a smile."
