About:
Artist Clay Vajgrt
My artwork is
a product of my years of searching for common ground among the
diverse things that interest me. I have been graced to have
experienced worlds of diverse landscapes, animals, and other
natural events. These influences are sometimes supplemented
with pop culture images, mostly culled from comic books,
cartoons, and TV that I grew up with. I use these images in my
work so they may reveal some secret mythological story to me
and if possible, the viewer.
I admire
Joseph Campbells work and his definition of art is one
that resonates with me, divine superfluous beauty
is the way he identifies it. Moments in my life when I have
had this experience of the sublime are what I continue to pay
attention to. It most often happens for me with exposure to
natural phenomenon and art. I hope to pass this along to the
viewer as well. These universal pools of deep feeling
experiences are what I fish in for artistic expression.
