Who
Invented the Ice Cream Cone?
Italo
Marchiony invented the ice cream cone and got a patent in the
late 1890's, however the ice cream cone was popularized at the
St. Louis Fair in 1904. When an ice cream vendor ran out of
paper cups and asked a nearby waffle booth to make some thin
waffles he could roll up to hold the ice cream. This really
caught on and cones that looked like wrapped waffles were
created. Later sugar cones and other cones of various shapes
started appearing on the market.
This became a
popular fair food and just walking about food.
Did you know
that the town of Carmel, California outlawed eating ice cream
cones from their shopping village because they did not want a
mess on their streets?
