Grandma's Banana Bread

I usually make up 4 loaves and keep them frozen for instant use. This may be my guests' favorite dish. I don't chop the walnuts; its wonderful to bite into a whole nugget. ...Margaret Delashmit

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter at room temperature

1 cup sugar

2 beaten eggs

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

3 medium bananas (very soft ones are best)

1 handful English walnuts (1/2 cup or so)

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, cream butter. Gradually add sugar and mix well. Add eggs and mix well. In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add walnuts and mix well. This keeps the nuts evenly mixed through the loaf. In another bowl, beat or mash (I use a potato masher) bananas. Mix flour mixture with butter mixture. Add bananas. Mix well. Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Cook at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
