moldings. All rooms have original wide-planked hardwood
floors, architectural plaster moldings and details, and lots
of elegant antiques. The three levels of Old Charleston
Porches are perfect for lazily relaxing while sipping a
refreshing cup of cool lemonade. Expect the best from King

Enjoy breakfast in the quaint Breakfast Room on the first
floor, or dine on the porches. Refreshments are available all
day in the Breakfast Room. King George IV's scrumptious
breakfasts are very relaxed and easy going. Southern style
breakfast with eggs, sausage, grits, waffles, and homemade
fruit bread; along with cereal, fresh fruits, herbal and
flavored teas, juice, breakfast yogurts and a nice robust
French roast coffee. Some mornings there are stuffed
croissants with ham and cheese or spinach and feta. They
accommodate breakfast all the way to 10:30 a.m. for the guests
who desire a leisurely morning.
Located in the Heart of the Historic Shopping and Dining
District, the Inn is a one-minute walk to King Street,
shopping, and restaurants and a five-minute walk to the
Historic Market. Maps and brochures of historic sights,
restaurants, and dining menus are available. You may enjoy one
of the fabulous tours of mansions, gardens and plantations or
go on one of their exciting boat rides. There are 35 golf

The King George Inn is a 200-year-old (circa 1790's) "Charleston
Historic House" located in the heart of the Historic
District offering unique hotel accommodations.
The House is named the "Peter Freneau House,"
after a prominent Charleston journalist and co-owner of the
Charleston City Gazette. Freneau was also a merchant,
shipowner, and Jeffersonian politician, and lived in the house
for many years. Freneau was of Huguenot descent and his
brother Philip Freneau was called the "poet of the
Revolution." |
