The Annie Brownell House Bed and Breakfast is a handsome Colonial Revival home dating back to 1899.

Situated on the historic Eastside of Providence, Rhode Island, this three-story house features an elliptical entrance portico supported by Ionic columns and crowned by a widow's walk. The leaded-glass frame double front door opens onto a grand central hall featuring classical pilasters and moldings, with double parlor and dining room off to either side.

A winding stairway with an elegantly carved banister is the focal point of the central hall and leads to the second-floor guestrooms. A guestroom on the ground floor is also available. Guestrooms, each with private bath, have all been recently redecorated and are furnished with original pieces from the early part of the twentieth century or tasteful reproductions consistent with the character of the house. Retreat to your choice of a twin or queen bed, surrounded by windows that allow warm, natural light to brighten and comfort the room.

A full breakfast is served daily in the breakfast room, which is separated from the sunny guest parlor only by the double (back-to-back) fireplace. Choose from a tempting selection of fresh fruit salad, breads and muffins, and hot or cold cereal. A cooked entree, which varies day to day, is also offered. Breakfast is a great time to plan your day's activities and to compare notes with other guests on things to do and see in the area.

The Annie Brownell House is conveniently situated for both business and pleasure travelers alike. Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design are within walking distance, and downtown Providence is less than a mile away. Vacationers will enjoy the various beaches and bike paths, along with the in-line/ice skating rink downtown.

Antique collectors can scout out finds by visiting the shops that dot the area. Stroll down one of the many streets of the Eastside and you will get a sense of the city's rich historical past. Providence has much to offer the traveler, with its many highly rated restaurants, theaters, museums, and other attractions. Narragansett Bay, the mansions of Newport, Cape Cod, and Boston are within easy driving distance.
