Westerly is
apply named for its westerly position in South County,
Rhode Island. Situated on the western border, of
Connecticut, this area displays abundant waterfront
starting at the end of the Pawcatuck inlet and around
to the Block Island Sound. This area includes two very
popular summer resort communities - Watch Hill and
Misquamicut.
Westerly's
charming downtown displays beautiful Victorian
architecture. The "movie-set" delight of the
downtown and the beautifully landscaped Wilcox Park,
earned its designation as "one of the 12 most
distinctive destinations in the country."
Misquamicut is a popular state beach with a wide array
of attractions, exciting night life and cultural and
entertaining events. Visitors enjoy the relaxing
atmosphere of Watch Hill with its lovely beaches and
waterfront village - with outdoor dining, leisurely
walks and antique shops. A protected bird sanctuary,
Napatree Point offers visitors and nature lovers a
great place to observe and photograph wildlife.
