Granola

Ingredients

1/2 cup sunflower seed oil

1/2 cup honey or corn syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla

5 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup shredded, unsweetened coconut

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup sesame seeds

1/4 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup chopped raw, unsalted nuts (walnuts, almonds, or Brazilian nuts)

1/2 teaspoon salt

2-1/2 cups dried fruit (raisins, currants, papaya, pineapple, or other)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine oil, honey or syrup, and vanilla in saucepan and heat. Place dry ingredients in bowl large enough to allow for thorough mixing, and toss to combine well. Pour hot mixture over dry ingredients, mixing well. Spread thinly onto baking sheet. Bake approximately 40 minutes or until brown and dry, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent burning. Cool and store in airtight container in cool, dry place. Keeps well. If adding fruit, add after mixture has cooled. Top with Quark.

Yields: About 7 cups
