Located in the National Historic District of East Berlin between York and Gettysburg, the Bechtel Victorian Mansion Bed and Breakfast is a graceful reminder of the Victorian era.

The home's high ceilings, brass chandeliers, pocket doors, and grand staircase are just a few of its original Victorian features. Built in 1897, this vintage Victorian mansion is currently being restored by its third owners.

The Bechtel Victorian Mansion has seven guest rooms and two suites. Each accommodation is decorated in country Victorian style with lace curtains, antiques, and beautiful quilts. The innkeeper's personal collection of dolls and Boyd's bears can be found throughout. Several rooms feature a Victorian picture rail with period-appropriate wallpapers, while others display delicate stenciling. All guest rooms, with more amenities than a fine hotel, have private baths and air conditioning, and some have private balconies or built-in wardrobes.

Guests are treated to a full breakfast each morning consisting of fresh fruit, homemade breads or muffins, and a hot specialty. Homemade cookies are found on the Dining Room table each day for an afternoon tea or late-night snack. The large wraparound front porch has cushioned wicker chairs and rockers for guests to relax and watch the world go by.

Located between York and Gettysburg, the mansion is a short distance from the Gettysburg Battlefield, historic museums, antique shops, and fine restaurants. The annual Colonial Day celebration is held on the second Saturday of September, and antique shows are regularly held throughout the year. Other special events are the Apple Blossom Festival in May and the Apple Harvest Festival on the first two weekends of October.
