The Kennett House Bed and Breakfast invites casual elegance in a magnificent granite foursquare mansion in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, just three miles from Longwood Gardens, in the Brandywine River Valley.

A gracious charmer of another era, the Kennett House is an authentic American four square built in 1910. This bed and breakfast is situated on property originally granted to the Scarlett family by William Penn.

The land that the house sits on, Hessian Hill, was occupied by Hessian soldiers sent to help Generals Cornwallis and Howe in their campaign against General Washington at the Battle of Brandywine in 1777. Kennett Square was also occupied by fifteen thousand British troops in the Fall of 1777, having won the battle and pushed Washington and his troops back to the Philadelphian area of Valley Forge.

Today, the Kennett House is a AAA three diamond-awarded Bed and Breakfast, offering delightful guest rooms and friendly service. Accommodations include one suite with a private bath, two guest rooms with private baths, and one guest room with a private hall bath. Rooms are tastefully decorated with rich colors and are comfortably furnished. Special touches include period antiques, a mahogany canopy bed, a walnut four-poster rice bed, and lush gardens. Other amenities include queen-sized beds, cable television, complimentary snacks and beverages, extra pillows, ceiling fans, and central air conditioning.

Relax in front of the fireplace in one of the parlors or read a book in a rocker on the wrap-around porch. Gather in the private sitting room just for guests or watch television in the parlor. A sumptuous gourmet breakfast is served each morning in the dining rooms.

Area attractions are many, including Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum with the Wyeth Collection, Winterthur Museum, Chadds Ford Winery, Brandywine Battlefield, Hagley Museum, Nemours Mansion and Gardens, Franklin Mint, historic Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
Drive the country roads that surround Kennett Square, or go hiking, tubing, or canoeing nearby. Take a hot air balloon ride. Guests will find something to suit everyone's taste.

In September, stop and see the Re-enactment of the Brandywine Battle or visit the Mushroom Festival. Longwood Gardens always has something special going on, from the Festival of Fountains to Easter or Christmas Celebrations.
