Listed in The Best Places to B&B in Ontario,
Butler Creek Country Inn is a strikingly beautiful Victorian
home built around 1905.
The imposing structure overlooks a peaceful valley along
the scenic Apple Route just 90 minutes east of Toronto. Nine
acres of trees, meadows, and gardens provide a lush backdrop.
Inside, you'll find a formal dining room and an adjoining
lounge with fireplace. A lovely spiral staircase leads to the
second-floor guest rooms. The centrally cooled Butler Creek
Country Inn accommodates guests with five guest rooms and a
two-room suite, each tastefully appointed with antiques and
equipped with tea- and coffee-making facilities. One guest
room comes with twin beds or a king bed and an ensuite powder
room, while the other guest rooms have queen beds and
washbasins or private baths.
For total privacy, the two-room Valley View Suite
features a combined living room, dining room, and kitchenette,
as well as a separate bedroom with queen-sized bed and a
three-piece private bath. The suite also offers a private
entrance and deck.
A delicious and hearty breakfast, served at a time
convenient to you, features such signature dishes as Eggs
Benedict and Apple Pancakes. For lunch and dinner, sample the
many fine restaurants located in the delightful village of
Brighton. The inn offers gourmet, golf, and theatre packages.
Five golf courses make the area a natural haven for
linksters, with packages available, and sailing and sport
fishing are also nearby. During the winter, the valley
converts into a great place to try your luck at ice fishing or
to go cross-country skiing or snowmobiling. If outdoor
activity isn't exactly your cup of tea, special events include
the Brighton Apple Fest in September and the Brighton
Winterfest in January, or you can indulge in a day-long
treatment at the Yoga Spa any time of the year. Theatre
packages are available as well. |
The many antique shops, boutiques, artist studios,
galleries, and museums of Brighton will delight your eyes,
while restaurants and tea rooms will please your palate. The
natural beauty of the property, however, will invite you to
relax by the creek or stroll through the grounds of the
adjacent Conservation Area (Proctor Park). The Goodrich-Loomis
Conservation Area features a web of trails, as does the nearby
Presqu'ile Provincial Park, a bird-watcher's paradise with
gorgeous beaches.
If you would like to venture a bit further, North Beach and
Sandbank are just a short drive to the east along the Loyalist
Parkway. Butler Creek is also convenient for day trips to the
"1000 Islands", Petroglyphs Provincial Park, the
Trent Canal System, Kingston, and Prince Edward County. |
