Ingredients:

3 Tablespoons butter

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup premium orange juice

1 Tablespoon grated orange peel

16 slices good, soft, whole-wheat bread

5 eggs

1-1/2 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar, orange juice, and orange peel; boil gently over medium heat for about 3 minutes until glaze thickens slightly. Pour into the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan; spread evenly. Cut the crust from bread. Place 1 layer of 8 slices on top of glaze, then place a second layer of 8 slices on top of first. Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread and refrigerate, covered, for 8 hours or overnight.

Uncover and bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes. To serve, cut into 8 servings and invert each onto a plate. Top with slices and crushed strawberries (fresh, if possible, but frozen in syrup is also fine) and a dollop of sour cream.
