If you are planning a vacation or getaway for a few days this year, why not choose Champlain Vistas as your nucleus for activity? There is more to offer here than beautiful views and a peaceful setting. Consider the following day trips.

• Montreal: 1-1/2 hours away, a cultural hub of the north country. A night at the symphony, great restaurants, visit museums, art galleries, a planetarium, biodome, and there's major league baseball, too!
• Vermont: a beautiful 20-minute ferry ride from here. See the Shelburne Museum, or enjoy an evening concert on the lawn of the Webb estate. The Mozart festival, featuring the Vermont symphony, is in full swing during July and August.
• Meadowmount School of Music: 10 miles to the summer camp of the famous Juilliard School. There are free classical concerts three nights a week by world-class students.
• Ausable Chasm: 20 minutes from here; a walking tour down the steep gorge and then a raft ride on the river. This gorge was carved during the last Ice Age.
• Lake Placid: a beautiful 45-minute auto ride. Go shopping, view 88 Olympic event sites (try a luge ride, if you dare), dine at many restaurants, and take the tram up Whiteface mountain for a spectacular view of the Adirondacks.
• Fort Ticonderoga: 40 minutes away. History buffs should enjoy a tour of this famous fort, site of a Revolutionary War battle.

• Golf: A 250-yard groomed practice fairway (plus a bucket of balls) is on the premises! Bring your clubs! A 9-hole watered, privately owned course is just 5 minutes away. Ten other challenging courses are within a 1/2-hour drive.
• Biking: Lake Champlain Bikeways has established numerous routes around the lake, in New York, and Vermont via the ferry. Brochures and maps available upon request.
• Hiking: The 46 high peaks (over 4000 feet) are at your finger tips for hiking whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced.
• Summer Theater: A professional summer stock theater in Westport is just 20 minutes away and runs through June, July, August and into September.
• Boating: Kayak/canoe and associated equipment rental available through High Peaks Outfitters located close by: packages available.
• Fishing: Fishing charter services and state boat launch located in the town of Willsboro. Old dock charters, with Captain Bob, are available May - October. Also, shore line cruises, area scenic tours, sunset lighthouse and full foliage cruises.
• Underwater Exploration: Dive trips and charters organized and run by Jones Aqua Sports, accredited master divers, out of Willsboro Bay Marina, on Lake Champlain, Open May through September. Call (518) 963-1150 for further information and trip rates.
• Area Birding: Many notable bird species have been sighted at Champlain Vistas and in surrounding fields. We have compiled a list and description where many species may be located, so bring your binoculars and enjoy!
