Audubon Center in Sharon, Connecticut; summer theater at Vassar College; Tanglewood Music Festival in Stockbridge Massachusetts; concerts at Music Mountain in Falls Village, Connecticut; and car racing at Lime Rock Race Track in Connecticut (20 minutes). Strawberry Festival (second Saturday in June), Amenia Fireman's Carnival (July), and Holiday of Lights (first Sunday in December).

  • Directions: From East Side of Manhattan: Take the FDR Drive to the Willis Avenue Bridge exit. Cross bridge, then turn left onto the I-87 North (Major Deegan). Take I-287 East (third exit past toll) to I-684 North. Take I-684 North to Brewster. Follow "From Route 684" directions below.
    From West Side Manhattan: Take the Westside Highway/Henry Hudson Drive straight north until it becomes the Saw Mill River Parkway. Drive north on Saw Mill River Parkway until it becomes Route 684 heading for Brewster. Follow "From Route 684" directions below.
    From Westchester/Connecticut: Westchester and Connecticut guests should easily find Route 684. The Hutchinson exits left onto Route 684. Also, Route 84 from Hartford connects to Route 22 North to Pawling. Follow "From Route 684" directions below.
    From New Jersey: Continue straight off the Tappan Zee Bridge onto Route 287 East. Take it to Route 684 North to Brewster. Follow "From Route 684" directions below.
    From New York Airports: Follow the signs to the Whitestone Bridge. Continue straight on to the Hutchison River Parkway. About 20 minutes later, you will see an overhead sign for Route 684 to Brewster; take that exit. Follow "From Route 684" directions below.
    From Route 684: Take I-684 North until it becomes Route 22. Do not take earlier Route 22 exit signs. Continue north of Route 22 (29 miles) to Amenia traffic light (the only one). Turn right onto Route 343 heading for Sharon, Connecticut. Take first right (Mechanic Street) past Harlem Valley Rail-Trail. Continue up Depot Hill. At the 4-way intersection, turn right onto Powder House Road. Drive approximately 1,000 feet on Powder House, and the new Alpen House Bed and Breakfast will be on your right.
