Escape to the rustic charm of a
welcoming log home at the edge of 7,000 acres of state
forest in New York's Finger Lakes region. |
 |
|
This is Log Country Inn Bed and
Breakfast of Ithaca, a gracious country lodge constructed
of fine Vermont logs and inspired by American pioneer
cabins of the 18th and 19th centuries. The hardy settlers
who built these original log cabins may find it hard to
believe how far this style of home has evolved. A
cathedral ceiling soars over the living room and most of
the bedrooms and bathrooms have plenty of elbow space.
Throughout, the rustic charm of this home is accented by
exposed log ceiling beams. |
The serenity of this setting and Log
Country Inn hospitality can be enjoyed by all. Stroll the
grounds in the summer and admire the vegetable garden. Bring
your camera in autumn and capture Mother Nature's leaf
painting. Explore the nearby Finger Lakes Trail, the longest
trail in New York State. In the winter, you can walk or ski
through the woods in the still aftermath of a new snowfall.
You may see deer foraging just a few feet
away. Awaken to the sound of the roosters, and experience the
peaceful wooded surroundings. Spend some time with the
friendly dogs and cat. Residents of the barn include: a
miniature horse, sheep, rabbits, and chicken (and often
newborn chicks). In the spring, share the fields and forest as
the gardens and wildflowers herald the warming sun. The
Grunbergs love their home in every season and are sure you
will too!
The decor is dotted with an Eastern
European influence, as is the morning meal. A full breakfast
is included in the lodging fee. Enjoy Wanda's famous blintzes
or Russian pancakes served with juices, choice fruits, local
bee's honey, specially selected jams, and home-baked breads or
pastries. While you eat, you can get to know the other guests
and your hostess, Mrs. Wanda Grunberg, a former biologist. She
runs Log Country Inn along with some help from her husband,
Slawomir, a documentary film producer for PBS.
Rest in comfortable, cozy lodging
accommodations with exposed beams. Many of the rooms are
furnished with custom-made country-style furniture. Others
have an international flair, including a Russian Room,
African Room and Japanese Suite. Most of the rooms
are air-conditioned and have their own private bathrooms.
Enjoy a fireplace and piano in the living room of the guest
house or have a cup of coffee at the dinning table. A fully
equipped kitchen is available for use. Relax in a double
Jacuzzi in your private suite with cable TV/VCR or surf the
Web in the Internet Suite. A sauna and afternoon tea are
available during Fall and Winter seasons. Families with
children are welcome in the bed and breakfast, where a newly
built playground with a tree house awaits you. Your hosts will
also find a place for your pet. Our Inn can provide a perfect
place for spiritual retreats or family reunions.
Each day you'll have plenty of
opportunities to explore all the Finger Lakes region has to
offer. Hiking trails are close to the Inn, and golf courses
and swimming pools are only a short drive away. The Finger
Lakes themselves are truly spectacular and provide a fantastic
opportunity for boating, fishing, swimming, and playing on
their shores. You will find opportunities for exploring,
biking, hunting, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing at
nearby Greek Peak. |
The town of Ithaca and its neighboring
communities are the proud home of Ithaca College, Cornell
University, the Corning Glass Museum, the Finger Lakes Wine
Trail, and Watkins Glen, home to world-class auto racing.
Browse through dozens of antique shops or tour The Commons in
Ithaca, known for its infinite variety of boutiques and
fashion stores. The area is also brimming with many elegant
restaurants, exciting festivals, lectures, forums, concerts,
movies, and exciting dramatic productions at Ithaca's Hangar
Theatre and the Corning Summer Theatre... and when you come
home at the end of a full day, you can relax in the authentic
Finnish sauna or Jacuzzi, or surf the web in your own private
suite at the Log Country Inn. Before you leave, Wanda will
take your picture (unless you resist), which will be part of
their web site, "Today at Log Country Inn", and will
stay there forever in the archive site (the pictures change
weekly).
Treat yourself to a vacation to the Log
Country Inn Bed and Breakfast of Ithaca. It's a perfect place
for family trips and reunions, business conferences, and
spiritual retreats. The Grunbergs will be delighted to serve
you and make your stay as enjoyable as possible around New
York's beautiful Finger Lakes. |
