The Harbor House, providing safe and comfortable budget
lodging accommodations for travelers, visitors, and tourists
coming to New York City, would like to offer you their
charming bed and breakfast inn as an alternative to the
crowds, noise, and high prices of the Manhattan hotels.
View of Manhattan from the
front porch of Harbor House B&B
Built circa 1890 on the New York Harbor at Penny Beach,
Staten Island, the Harbor House Bed and Breakfast provides the
best of both worlds. The Inn is convenient to all major
airports and is only half an hour from the Metropolitan
Center. Yet despite the close proximity to all the marvels of
the 'city-that-never-sleeps', your hosts are pleased to retain
a quiet, relaxing atmosphere of escape where you can enjoy the
special kind of laid-back, easy living that is inspired in
this unspoiled piece of country within the city.
From its vantage site, the Inn commands an unobstructed
view of one of the most beautiful skylines in America. The
sweeping panorama includes Manhattan with the Chrysler
Building, the New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty,
Brooklyn, and the majesty of the Atlantic Ocean. Relax in
ocean breezes as you enjoy the harmony of the sea, the bustle
of the harbor, and the incredible Manhattan skyline, all
framed by extra-large picture windows.
Every morning, you will savor a delectable extended
continental breakfast consisting of muffins, croissants,
toast, cereal, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. On occasion,
fruit and pastries are served as well. In fair weather,
breakfast is served on the porch, accompanied by the
spectacular view of the harbor.
Near Harbor House, there are a million and one things to do,
such as fishing with local fishermen on the beach, playing
golf at one of three public courses or tennis at nearby
courts, relaxing on the beach, paddling in Clove Lakes Park,
or going to one of many cultural activities at Snug Harbor.
Attend a Victorian-style tea party next door at the historic
Alice Austen House & Museum. There is a kayak landing
across the street, but you'll have to bring your own kayak. Of
course, your visit would not be complete without a trip into
the city, where you can go shopping, see a play, or visit the
Opera, a museum, SoHo, or the Statue of Liberty. |
The staff at Harbor House is especially proud of the
gentle, friendly atmosphere they provide in a charmingly
appointed home. A master's touch is revealed in the details --
a little bit of elegance and a cheery dose of casual with a
warm, nostalgic nod to the past. On arrival, you are greeted
with warmth and friendliness and the voice of experience to
guide you in your exploration of New York City. Complimentary
beverages greet you in sun-filled rooms decorated with
mixtures of simple furniture that evoke the light-hearted mood
of a simpler time. No standard, cookie-cutter furnishings will
do. Each room is thoughtfully decorated with unique vintage
pieces, lovingly restored to make each of the rooms a special
treasure. Harbor House affords five lovely suites and rooms
with private bathrooms as well as six cozy rooms with shared
baths. Two of the suites feature fireplaces, and one even has
a kitchen! It is never forgotten that perhaps these are the
rooms in which you will plan your next move, welcome friends,
or celebrate that special occasion.
When you turn in for the evening and watch the city lights
come up, you will enjoy some of the most mesmerizing,
picturesque scenery of New York City from the privacy of your
room while fresh gentle ocean breezes and the roll of the
waves lull you into a peaceful slumber. As you doze, think of
the additional sights that you'll be able to enjoy with the
money you saved by choosing Harbor House. |
