Baisley House Bed and Breakfast is a restored Victorian
brownstone row house, built in 1845 by Charles Baisley.
Located in Carroll Gardens, a Victorian brownstone historic
district in the borough of Brooklyn, this elegant bed and
breakfast is just minutes from the electricity of Manhattan.
Carroll Gardens owes its name to Charles Carroll, Maryland's
signer of the Declaration of Independence, and to the charming
front gardens of the row houses that line its blocks. The
community is rich in history, having began as a Dutch
settlement in the late seventeenth century.
Relax in the stately drawing room decorated in burgundy and
gold, with an Egyptian revival parlor suite and Ecclesiastical
art. The dining room and library are where breakfast is served
in the morning, except when it is served in the garden,
weather permitting. The rear garden is an always delightful
oasis. Overflowing with waves of English roses, surrounded by
a perennial border, and furnished with Victorian garden
furniture, it is a most peaceful sanctuary from the high
energy of neighboring Manhattan. The exquisite art collection
in the house ranges in period from the eighteenth to the
twentieth centuries.
Choose from three guest accommodations: one single occupancy
room and two double rooms. All rooms offer air conditioning,
telephones, color cable televisions with VCRs, and wireless
high speed Internet service. Enjoy a complimentary full hot
breakfast in the morning as you contemplate your activities
for the day.
Visit icons of New York history - the Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island. Coney Island, with its boardwalk, amusement
park, and historical legacy, is close by. Prospect Park is a
wonderful place through which to stroll and observe New York
life. Manhattan, with its many famous neighborhoods from the
Financial District with Wall Street to Greenwich Village and
the Lower East Side, is just across the East River.
World-renowned museums flood Brooklyn and Manhattan. The
Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and
Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College
are major centers of cultural and artistic expression. |
Baisley House is a great place to stay if you want to lose
yourself in the many and varied restaurants of Carroll Gardens
and its surrounding neighborhoods such as the historic
districts of Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, and Cobble Hill.
Indulge your shopping streak by browsing the numerous
fantastic shops throughout the city.
With a backdrop like New York City and a bed and breakfast
described by Mark Francis Cohen of The New York Times
as "...a Victorian showplace so true to form that it is
as if you have walked through a time portal," you can be
fairly certain of a memorable vacation at Baisley House Bed
and Breakfast. |
