retreat for Addison Scott, a wealthy Griffin Corners resident,
the "Scott Cottage" began welcoming guests to the
countryside around the turn of the century. Situated at the
confluence of the Bushkill and Little Red Kill trout streams,
the setting has long proved a powerful lure for those seeking
to rejuvenate body and soul. Today, the town of Griffin
Corners is known as the Village of Fleischmanns (named in
honor of the yeast magnate and town benefactor), and the Scott
Cottage (now a Village landmark) has evolved into River Run --
elected to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
This spacious 20-room Queen Anne mansion features eight
distinctive guest accommodations (most with private bath),
each named for a storied Catskill river. A private apartment
called the "Retro Suite" offers 50's-style lodging
with private baths and a kitchen that is perfect for longer
stays and families.
River Run's outdoor setting beckons you to explore its acre
of backyard, which slopes gently to a private streamside
picnic area. Or simply relax in an Adirondack chair on the
front porch and watch the town go by. A short walk brings you
to tennis courts, swimming pool, park, theater, antiques,
museum/library, auction and a choice of restaurants. Just
minutes away are the magnificent hiking trails of the "forever
wild" Catskill Forest Preserve, golf, fishing, horseback
riding, swimming, open-air markets, antiquing, rail rides,
tubing, mountain biking and some of the best skiing in the
Northeast at Belleayre and Plattekill. As you can see, this is
