Applesauce Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1-1/2 cups sugar

1 egg

2 cups applesauce

2-1/2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon cloves

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

1 apple, diced

and 1 apple, sliced

Cream butter and sugar until soft; add egg and mix until very light. Blend in applesauce. Mix dry ingredients, walnuts, and diced apple. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture; mix well. Pour batter in a greased pan (10 x 8 inches) and arrange apples slices on top. Bake for 1-1/4 hours at 350 degrees.
